The DDE programme is a digital transformation project providing support for digital/data focused entrepreneurs and businesses.
The Data-Driven Entrepreneurship (DDE) programme is jointly organised by the University of Edinburgh’s commercialisation service, Edinburgh Innovations (EI), and the Data-Driven Innovation (DDI) initiative.
The DDE programme is designed to drive entrepreneurship among students, staff and relevant external buinesses by supporting them to develop their business ideas, build their skills and secure funding. EI is working with our DDI Hubs to deliver the DDE programme!
DDE launched in January 2021 to encourage entrepreneurial activity undertaken as part of University’s Beacon Project portfolio through a digitally enabled suite of 12 activities.
The DDE suite of activities are designed to drive entrepreneurship among staff and students at the University by supporting them to develop their business ideas, build their skills and secure funding.
Since its conception, DDE has supported a huge number of entrepreneurial, ambitious and innovative students, researchers, academics and staff across the University of Edinburgh and beyond to connect their ideas to the world.
We are also looking for opportunities to collaborate with start-ups, corporates, investors, mentors and funders.

The Data-Driven Innovation initiative has helped establish five hubs at the University of Edinburgh and Heriot-Watt University – creating a regional power-house for collaboration with industry partners.
The hubs house expertise and facilities to help 10 industrial sectors become more innovative through data.
